As of early 2013, we are still in the process of rebooting unto the new platform

If you want to keep track of the relaunch you can:

  1. Like us on Facebook
  2. Follow us on Twitter
  3. Send me (Kris) an e-mail and let me know that you'd like to join the new site when it is ready.

Once we are ready to relaunch, we will start spreading the word. Until then, expect silence to mean we are heads down coding. :) The forum is still open for active members, but don't expect a lot of activity here since meets are currently on hold.

I saw a reference in one of the threads, by Kris, of doing some additional types of meets, I believe that one had to do with crossfit. I know there are already provisions for some different meets in the rules but I'm sure there are tons more available. The one that comes to mind for me is a tactical strength challenge meet.

Now I realize that not everone has a kettlebell so that creates a limitation on who can participate but it may still be a viable option at some point down the road. The TSC folks may even be willing to count well documented entries in the official record since they are already comfortable with the geographically dispersed idea.

Are there other event and meets that should be considered?

Mike, an excellent initiative! The rulebook currently recognizes competitions consisting of any combination of the three powerlifts plus the military bench press. This implies that rankings are kept for these lifts. I have also envisioned the odd "special event" in other lifts. These would be more informal with no rankings or meticulously written rules.

That said, if there is enough interest in regular competitions with rankings etc. in other disciplines than pure powerlifting I am all for it. I have begun building up a backend to automate much of the routine tasks involved in running global multi-lingual Internet-based competitions and this framework could be put to good use in other events as well. Having them under the same roof would also create synergy in terms of achieving broad attention that would be beneficial for all events. However, these events must be arranged IN ADDITION to the regular powerlifting meets. In short, if there are people who are willing to write the rules, moderate a related forum and take care of running the events, then I'll gladly provide the server and software resources for it. Naturally, these events would need to be drug-free, open to both sexes and have free entry.

...so those of you interested in other events, whether a tactical strength challenge, crossfit total, strongman, weightlifting or something else, please gather your forces and work out the details. Cheesy This thread is an excellent point of departure, but I'll be happy to open up a forum when you are ready to make a serious push and need a venue for working on it.

I'd be up for the tactical one. That one sounds kind of interesting (for reading Mike describe it awhile back).  Not sure when I'll be able to compete in one of these, but other meets would be awesome!

Guess I'll have to go out and bang that drum a bit then. If there is other interest here, it would be nice. Of course, I don't want to tread what Kris has going on here. I just want to hijack his frame work  Shocked

I'd be into a Crossfit Total meet. www.crossfit.com/journal/2006/11/the_crossfit_total_by_mark_rip.html
The tactical meets have lost some intrest in the last few years from CF's. CF total is the new deal.  I bet it would be a hit interest wise.

I just read the CFT .pdf file and that sounds like something that would be cool to run.  I'm all for it !!!

The tactical one sounds interesting also, but I haven't read anything on that yet.
