As of early 2013, we are still in the process of rebooting unto the new platform

If you want to keep track of the relaunch you can:

  1. Like us on Facebook
  2. Follow us on Twitter
  3. Send me (Kris) an e-mail and let me know that you'd like to join the new site when it is ready.

Once we are ready to relaunch, we will start spreading the word. Until then, expect silence to mean we are heads down coding. :) The forum is still open for active members, but don't expect a lot of activity here since meets are currently on hold.

A routine upgrade of the operating system on the server running virtualmeet.net failed to install cleanly taking down a software library required for logging into the server, e-mail and whatnot. Since login is not possible, it will probably mean that the server operating system will need to be reinstalled shortly. The forums are still working, but new member registration is not.

Besides having backups, all data should be intact as the server has all contents mirrored to a second hard drive (so-called RAID-1 for the techies out there), but the base system would still need to be configured before the data can be migrated.

Thank you for your patience, this issue will be resolved as quickly as possible after which the meet results can be published.

Update: the company hosting my server has been very slow to respond to this, but I have put in a request for remote hardware access (KVM over IP) so I can go ahead and reinstall the base operating system. After waiting for six hours, I hope I can soon begin the re-installation progress which will be bundled with a long-awaited upgrade of OS version. In a nutshell: Virtualmeet.net is expected to be down for a few hours without further notice.

Thanks for your patience!  Grin

In hindsight, "a few hours" was only mildly optimistic... The server crashed a second time in April and I ended up bundling the needed reorganization with wholesale software upgrades and large-scale improvements to the site itself.  Most importantly, the issues have been resolved and we're back.

The show will go on.

PS. Those interested in the gory details, can read this and this at my personal site.
